Independent Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M31

We report the independent discovery of an apparent nova in M31 on a co-added 360-s R-band CCD frame taken on 2016 Dec. 23.033 UT with the Danish 1.54-m telescope at La Silla.
The object designated PNV J00424659+4116578 was first announced and designated AT2016ize
by R. Belligoli et al. (see here) and is located at R.A. = 0h42m46s.59, Decl. = +41o16'57".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is
25.5" east and 49.3" north of the center of M31 (see link to discovery image below).
The following R-band magnitudes were obtained using the Danish 1.54-m telescope at La Silla:
2016 Dec. 18.045 UT, [20.1; 23.033, 16.73 ± 0.08.
