A Swift-ToO was executed to observe the field of the newly discovered
type Ia SN in M101 (PTFkly, Nugent, Atel # 3581; Li, Atel #3582;
Cenko, Atel #3583) starting from 2011-08-24T22:08:48.
No X-ray source is detected by Swift-XRT at the optical position of the transient
with a 3 sigma upper limit of ~4.d-3 c/s in the 0.3-10 keV energy band
(total exposure= 4.5 ks). The Galactic neutral hydrogen column density in the
direction of the event is 1.8d20 1/cm2 (Kalberla 2005).
Assuming a spectral photon index ~2, this translates into an absorbed flux limit
of ~2d-13 erg/s/cm2 and a luminosity of 2.4d39 erg/s at a distance of 7 Mpc.
Further Swift observations are planned.
