Observations of the M31N 2008-12a field with the SDSU Mount Laguna Observatory (MLO) 40-in reflector on 2023 December 5.194 and 5.208 UT - approximately 8 hr prior to the detection by Sun et al (Atel #16361) - place the following limits on the R-band magnitude of M31N 2008-12a. Two additional observations obtained shortly after eruption using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov (OND) are also included.
