ATel #15813 reported a transient event at the location of AT2020adbp. This object has first been reported in December 2020 by ZTF and then again in August 2021 (see AT2020adbp for details).
A Liverpool Telescope SPRAT spectrum was obtained on 2022-12-16.89 (UTC), this spectrum was taken in the blue-optimized mode and consisted of three 600s exposures.
The object is clearly detected, however, it shows a broadly flat continuum, with no evidence for any emission nor any absorption lines.
Based on this spectrum, we conclude that the object reported in ATel #15813 is most likely not a nova eruption.
If all three detections are associated, AT2020adbp is most likely a long-period variable and not a short duration (or rapid) recurrent nova.
