Continued search by CFHT-COVET (ATEL 1487, ATEL 1519) reveals another optical transient on UT 2008 May 13.366 :

The offset from the barred spiral host suggests this is a supernova candidate. This transient was also detected on May 10 at r'=20.8. Follow-up spectroscopy is encouraged.
