We report the first X-ray identification of the source IGR J18307-1232 which was reported in the 3rd INTEGRAL IBIS/ISGRI soft gamma-ray survey catalog (Bird et al. 2007, ApJS, 170, 175, see also
http://isdc.unige.ch/~rodrigue/html/igrsources.html). It was found through a cross-correlation of the 2st XMM-Newton slew survey catalog (see Saxton et al. 2008, A&A, 480, 611) and the INTEGRAL survey catalog.
Within the INTEGRAL uncertainty (3.3') we find the XMM-Newton slew source XMMLS1 J183049.6-123218. This source was detected during a slew on UT 2007, Oct 04 04:04, with a statistical significance of 5-sigma. The XMM-Newton slew source coordinates are: RA, Dec (J2000.0) = 18h30m49.6s, -12d32'18" (with a 68% confidence error of 8"), i.e., about 1.9' from the INTEGRAL position.
The 0.2-12 keV EPIC-pn count rate was 0.82 ± 0.29 c/s. The corresponding flux is 2.6 ± 0.9 x 10-12 erg/s/cm2 (assuming a spectral model of an absorbed power law with a photon index of 1.7 and an absorption column, NH = 3x1020 atoms/cm2).
We encourage follow-up at X-ray and other wavelengths to confirm our identification, and association with the INTEGRAL source.
