We report the discovery of DLT17ch/AT 2017gax. The object was discovered on 2017-08-14.24 UT at R~17.04 mag, during the ongoing D<40 Mpc (DLT40) one day cadence supernova search, using data from the PROMPT 5 0.41m telescope located at CTIO. A confirmation image was obtained on 2017-08-14.70 UT using a 0.4m LCO telescope (LCO node at the Siding Spring Observatory). DLT17ch/AT 2017gax is located at RA: 04:45:49.44 Dec: -59:14:42.6, (6.60E, 1.60N arcsec offset from the center of the host galaxy, NGC 1672). We do not detect the transient (R>19.3 mag) on 2017-08-09.31 UT or in prior imaging of the field. The discovery image was taken in a 'Clear' filter and calibrated to an approximate R-band magnitude using the USNO-B1 catalog. Further observations are encouraged.
