Spectroscopic Classification of MASTER OT J141551.21-480802.6 as a SN Ia

We obtained an optical spectrum of MASTER OT J141551.21-480802.6 (ATel #10287) on UT 2017 May 2.25 with LDSS3 mounted the Magellan/Clay 6.5m telescope at LCO. The spectrum of the transient is that of a Type Ia SN after maximum. Cross-correlation with a library of SN spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows that MASTER OT J141551.21-480802.6 spectrum is best fit with the normal Ia SN2002eu at +33 days. The redshift obtained with SNID from the SN lines of z=0.016 +/- 0.002 is consistent with the redshift of NGC 5516 (z=0.01375 from NED).
