We report the possible optical re-brightening of SN 2016gkg (reported by Victor Buso and Sebastian Botero) after its unusually fast decline (ATel #9529). The object was detected on 2016-09-24.0 UT with an apparent magnitude of 16.54 mag during the ongoing D<40 Mpc (DLT40) one day cadence supernova search, using data from the PROMPT 5 0.41m telescope located at CTIO. The source was detected again on 2016-09-25.0 UT with an apparent magnitude of 16.45 mag. All images were taken in a 'Clear' filter which was calibrated to an approximate R-band magnitude using the USNO-B1 catalog.
We also include the photometry obtained so far with the PROMPT 5 0.41m telescope in the table.
JD Mag Instr Filter
2457653.542 15.49 +/- 0.03 PROMPT5 Clear
2457654.645 16.33 +/- 0.04 PROMPT5 Clear

Further observations will confirm the photometric evolution of SN 2016gkg.
