The NOT Unbiased Transient Survey (NUTS; ATel #8992) report the spectroscopic classification of supernova SN 2016fqr in NGC 1122. The supernova was discovered by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (LOSS).

The observation was performed with the 2.56 m Nordic Optical Telescope equipped with ALFOSC (range 350-950 nm; resolution 1.6 nm) on 2016-09-04 UT.

Name | Host galaxy | Redshift | Discovery (UT)| Discovery mag | Type | Phase | Notes
SN 2016fqr | NGC 1122 | 0.012 | 2016-09-02.52 | 17.5 | II | +6d | (1)

(1) The best match is with SN 1999gi at ~1 week after explosion (Asiago Supernova Archive, ASA).

The classification was performed using the GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tools, and is posted in TNS at https://wis-tns.weizmann.ac.il/object/2016fqr.
