Non-detection of SPIRITS16tn in Sloan-i band

We report imaging observations of M108 (NGC 3556) through Sloan-i filter with the 1.0m RCC telescope at Piszkesteto Station of Konkoly Observatory, Hungary, taken on 2016-08-01.8 UT (limiting magnitude i ~ 18.7 mag). No source is detected at the position of SPIRITS16tn (ATel #9434). If this transient is indeed a supernova, our non-detection implies an extinction of A_i > 5 mag within the host galaxy. This confirms the conclusion by Adams et al. (ATel #9441) that this possible supernova is heavily extinguished by dust.
