We report Swift UVOT observations of SPIRITS16tn, a possible supernova in M108 (Jencson et al. ATel #9434). No source is detected in V, B, and U images taken on 2016-08-29.08 UT (14.0 days since SST discovery images) with exposure times of 540, 580, and 540s respectively. The 3-sigma limiting (Vega) magnitudes are V > 20.5, B > 20.8, and U > 20.5.
These limits suggest that the event is heavily obscured. If the transient is a supernova, it must be extinguished by several magnitudes.
We thank the Swift Team for rapid approval and scheduling of DDT observations.
