Independent Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M31

We report the independent discovery of an apparent nova in M31 on a co-added 810-s R-band CCD frame taken on 2016 Aug. 11.853 UT with the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov.

The object first announced and designated PNV J00415682+4111276 by K. Nishiyama and F. Kabashima is located at R.A. = 0h41m56s.91, Decl. = +41o11'27".5 (equinox 2000.0), which is 534.9" west and 281.0" south of the center of M31 (see link to image below).

The following R-band magnitudes were obtained using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov:

2016 Aug. 8.945 UT, [20.4; 11.853, 17.0 ± 0.1.
