We report the following classifications of optical transients from spectroscopic observations with KOSMOS on the KPNO Mayall 4-m telescope. Targets were supplied by the Pan-STARRS Survey for Transients (PSST) and the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN). All observations were made on 2016 Aug 6 UT. Classifications were performed with SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | z | Type | Phase | Notes
PS16dog | 21:06:30.80 | -20:47:45.60 | 0.120 | | | (1)
PS16doh | 21:47:04.35 | -22:31:41.80 | 0.126 | Ia | +10 d | (2)
ASASSN-16hz | 23:15:45.52 | -01:20:23.75 | 0.025 | Ia | -1 d | (3)
Notes:
When the redshift is given to 2 decimal places, it is derived from the SN spectrum. Otherwise, the redshift is determined from the host galaxy.
(1) Blue continuum. Spectrum has relatively low S/N, but no SN features are obvious.
(2) We measure a Si II 6355 velocity of -11,300 km/s.
(3) We measure a Si II 6355 velocity of -12,000 km/s. While the SN continuum shape is consistent with a low-reddening SN Ia, we detect a relatively strong Na D doublet with an EW = 1.4 A.
