We obtained an optical spectrum (range 370-840 nm) of SN 2016cyi (=PTSS-16jik), discovered by the PMO-Tsinghua Supernova Survey (PTSS: http://119.78.210.3/ptss2/ ), on UT Aug.02.7 2016 with the 2.16-m telescope (+BFOSC) at Xinglong Station of National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC). The spectrum is similar to that of a type IIn supernova at a few weeks after explosion, showing a blue continuum and prominent narrow emission lines of hydrogen and helium (with a line width of about 2000 km/s). The Ha line also displays broad emission component, with a velocity of about 15000 km/s. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the spectral comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A,488, 383) shows that it matches with SN 2010jl at phases in a range from +33 days to +40 days from its discovery. From the narrow Ha emission line, we estimate that its host galaxy ZOAG G097.31-08.31 has a redshift of 0.044.
