We observed the Type Ic Superluminous supernova Gaia16apd (spectroscopic classification: Kangas et al., ATel #9071; Swift UVOT observations: Blagorodnova et al., ATel #9074) with the 1.34m Schmidt telescope of the Thueringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg in BVRcIc. Observations so far were obtained at three epochs: MJD 57538.9 (May 30), 57544.9 (June 05), and 57548.9 (June 09). The SN is well-detected at all epochs. In comparison to SDSS field stars (and using the transformation of Lupton 2006), we find Rc = 16.69 +\- 0.06 mag in the first epoch, and a color B-Rc = 0.11 mag. The supernova was still rising during our third epoch, having increased by 0.15 mag in Rc. Further observations are planned in the coming weeks.
