The AGILE satellite is detecting an enhancement of gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV from the FSRQ 3C 454.3.
Integrating from 2016-06-11 01:00 UT to 2016-06-15 01:00 UT, a maximum likelihood analysis yields the detection of the source with a flux of (2.7 +/- 0.7) x 10^-6 ph/cm2/s (E > 100 MeV), at a significance level above 5 sigma.
Integrating over 24 hours from 2016-06-14 00:00 UT, AGILE has detected a peak emission of F=(4.3 +/- 1.5) x 10^-6 ph/cm2/s above 100 MeV.
Recent increase of optical activity from this quasar has been reported in ATel #9150.
This measurement was obtained with AGILE observing a large portion of the sky in spinning mode.
Multifrequency observations of this source are strongly encouraged.
