Spectroscopic Classification of ASASSN-16ec

We obtained a medium resolution optical (320-1000nm) spectrum of ASASSN-16ec (ATel #8915) on UT April 8.2 with MagE mounted on the Magellan Baade telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum of ASASSN-16ec is that of a Type Ia SN around maximum light. After correcting for the redshift of its host galaxy, we measure a Si II expansion velocity of ~11800 km/s.
