iPTF Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M31

The intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (ATel #4807) report the discovery of an apparent nova in M31, iPTF14lf, at RA = 00:43:26.76, Dec = +41:23:33.3. This optical transient was detected on two iPTF images on UT Feb 2.1, 2014 at magnitude R=18.35. Nothing was there at this location on UT Jan 29, and previous iPTF images (typically nightly observations), with typical limiting magnitudes R~21 mag.
