SN 2014J in M82 (CBET #3792) was observed with the 0.76-m Katzman
Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), as part of the Lick Observatory
Supernova Search, starting about 5 days before the discovery by
Fossey et al. (CBET #3792). The supernova was detected in KAIT unfiltered images
obtained on Jan. 16.38, Jan 18.35, and Jan. 20.45 UT, but there was no
detection in KAIT images obtained on Jan 10.44 and Jan 14.37 UT. A
preliminary analysis of the early-time light curve is shown at the
following website, along with a few KAIT images: http://astro.berkeley.edu/bait/public_html/2014/sn2014J.html
