Spectroscopic Classification of ASASSN-14ad

We report the spectroscopic observation of the supernova candidate ASASSN-14ad(ATel #5820). We obtained an optical spectrogram (range 370-860 nm) with the NAOC 2.16m + BFOSC on 2014 Jan. 27.86 UT. The spectrum is consistent with the type Ia supernova SN 1994D at t = -5 days. Adopting for the host galaxy (KUG 1237+183) a recession velocity of 7922 km/s, we measure a velocity of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature to be about 11800 km/s.
