The intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (ATel #4807) report the discovery of a nova in M31, iPTF13dya, at RA = 00:44:23.29, Dec = +41:40:54.6. This optical transient was detected on 3 iPTF images during UT Nov 3.25 to Nov 3.32, at magnitudes R=18.5 to 18.4. Nothing was there at this location on UT Nov 2.3, and previous iPTF images (typically nightly observations), with typical limiting magnitudes R~21 mag. We obtained a spectra with Keck/DEIMOS on UT Nov 3.47. It shows strong Halpha and Hbeta emissions, with P-Cygni profile. The minimum of Halpha corresponds to an expansion velocity of 1600 km/s.
