The intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (ATel #4807) report the discovery of a nova candidate in M31, iPTF13dui, at RA = 00:37:49.62, Dec = +41:12:00.6. This optical transient was detected on 3 iPTF images during UT Oct 22.1 to 22.3, at magnitudes R=18.1 to 18.2. Nothing was there at this location on UT Oct 16, and previous iPTF images (typically nightly observations), with typical limiting magnitudes R~21 mag. It is about 1 deg west to the center of M31. It might be a M31 nova, or a foreground outbursting source (CV or M dwarf flare).
