We observed PSN J00564446-0954595 in NGC 309 (discoverer: B. Monard) with the Folded-port InfraRed Echellette (FIRE; Simcoe et al. 2010) spectrograph on the Magellan Baade telescope on UT 2013 Jun 15.47. The spectrum covers 0.8 to 2.5 um, shows prominent P Cygni profiles of Helium I at 1.083 and 2.058 um and weak Paschen beta. Correcting for the recession of NGC309, we derive a velocity of 17000 km/s. We conclude that this supernova is consistent with a Type IIb after maximum.
