MASTER040821.91+141515.0 reported in http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=3870 on 2012-01-20 was discovered by CRTS on 2012-01-13 and announced on the CRTS and Skyalert (http://skyalert.org) pages. The past lightcurve and SDSS colors of the matching source did suggest it to be unusual. We obtained photometry with the Palomar 1.5m on 2012-01-15 (http://avyakta.caltech.edu:8080/cgi-bin/p60_transient_indiv.cgi?T201131150224104750) and the Euler 1.2m on 2012-01-16. A spectrum obtained using the Double Beam Spectrograph on the Palomar 5m on 2012-01-18 exhibits blue continuum, broad absorption and H-alpha emission identifying it as a CV.
