The Arcminute Microkelvin Imager Large Array (AMI-LA) reports a flare in the 1.8cm (16GHz) radio emission of T Tau. The flare occurred on 2011 November 6th (mJD 55871.1) with a flux density of 16.78+/-0.84 mJy, an excess of more than 50 per cent compared to the typical flux density of T Tau at this frequency, which is ~10mJy. The flare was accompanied by a change in spectral index to a more steeply rising spectrum. At the resolution of the AMI-LA, T Tau N and T Tau S are unresolved; however, we expect the emission at 16GHz to be heavily dominated by T Tau S (in a ratio approximately 10:1) and therefore attribute the flare emission to T Tau S. These data form part of an ongoing program and monitoring will continue.
