Optical outburst of BL Lacertae object OT 081

We are conducting optical photometric and polarimetric monitoring of selected blazars. We report that BL Lacertae object OT 081 (=4C 09.57, PKS 1749+096) shows prominent activity. Its brightness increased by ~3 mag from UT 2010 Aug 06 to Aug 17 19:40, reaching R=15.22. Polarization level have shown a sharp maximum of ~40% during the night of Aug 16 and decrease to moderate 17% next night. Multifrequency observations of this object are encouraged.
