The Be X-ray binary A0535+262 has been in an active state, as revealed by Fermi/GBM (ATel #2705) and MAXI/GSC (ATel #2754). The peak of the outburst in the MAXI/GSC band (2-10 keV) was recorded on 2010 July 29.

We observed A0535+262 with WSRT at 4.9 and 8.4 GHz on three epochs: 2010 July 24, 2010 July 31, and 2010 August 7. We did not detect radio emission at the position of A0535+262 listed in the USNO-B1.0 Catalog, RA (J2000): 05h38m54.574s; Dec (J2000): +26d18'56".82. After combining the three data sets, the resulting 3-sigma upper limits were: 0.21 mJy at 4.9 GHz, and 0.54 mJy at 8.4 GHz.

We note that at 4.9 GHz (but not at 8.4 GHz) we detected an unresolved source (at the resolution of 18" X 7") with a flux density of 2.0 +/- 0.2 mJy located 65" away from the optical counterpart of our target. The object showed no variability between the observing epochs, and is likely a background radio source.
