IGR J06074+2205 a new X-ray source discovered by INTEGRAL

We report the discovery of a new source, IGR J06074+2205, at RA=06h07.4m DEC=22°05' (+-2 arcmin) with both JEM-X telescopes on board INTEGRAL.
The source was detected during public observations of the Crab region performed between 15 and 16 February 2003 in the context of the calibration of the INTEGRAL instruments.
IGR J06074+2205 was detected with a flux of ~7 mCrab (+-2 mCrab) between 3 and 10 keV, and about 15 mCrab in the 10-20 keV range during a stable 67 ks pointing on Feb. 15 2003. It was also detected in another similar ~16ks pointing on Feb. 16 2003 with an average flux less than 5 mCrab. It was located 7.65 degrees from the Crab, which was outside the JEMX field of view in these two particular pointings. This new source has not been detected in later observations of the same region.
A corresponding investigation with the IBIS/ISGRI instrument reveals a source at a position consistent with the JEM-X position between 25 keV and 100 keV. Unfortunately, the alignment of the source with the Crab in the instrument coordinate system prevents a more detailed analysis.
The closest known X-ray source, 1RXS J060731.8+222120, lies 14 arcmin away from the new INTEGRAL source position, well outside the uncertainty circle of JEM-X position.
Analyses at other wavelengths are strongly encouraged to better understand the nature of this new source.
