The outburst of X-rays from IGR J17379-3747 ( = XTE J1737-376) reported by Swift/BAT (ATel #1709) was also detected by INTEGRAL/ISGRI during a Galactic Bulge Monitoring (ATel #438) exposure starting at 2008-09-05T00:02 and lasting 12 ksec. The source was seen at 19 ± 2 mCrab in the 18-40 keV band, almost a factor of 2 higher than the 15-50 keV flux reported by BAT three days earlier. No emission was seen in the 40-100 keV band (limiting sensitivity ~10 mCrab).
The position returned by ISGRI is RA, Dec= 264.531 -37.752 (J2000) with an error radius of 3.4 arcmin, consistent with all the measurements of the position given in ATel #1709; combining these positions with a weighted mean gives a position of RA, Dec= 264.509 -37.7513 (J2000) ± 1.8 arcmin.
Observations of the source location will be made with INTEGRAL approximately every three days, the results of which can be seen via the web link below. IGR J17379-3747 will also be observed regularly with INTEGRAL during the upcoming Galactic Centre Key Programme.
