We have performed optical and near-infrared observations of the BL Lac object PG1553+113 following the strong activity observed in optical and radio bands (ATel #15915). The observations were performed between March 08 and 12 with the Rapid Eye Mount (REM) telescope at La Silla, Chile and Joan Oro Telescope (TJO) at Montsec Astronomical Observatory, Spain. Standard differential photometry was performed using a semi-automatic pipeline developed for the Tuorla blazar monitoring program (Nilsson, Lindfors et al. 2018). The brightness was estimated against 2MASS (H-band) and PANSTARS (g,r,i,z-bands) magnitudes of two nearby stars (marked 1 and 3 in the finding chart available here: https://users.utu.fi/kani/1m/finding_charts/PG1553+113_map.html). R-band magnitudes of the comparison and control stars are from Raiteri et al. 2015.

The current brightness is close to the historical maximum measured from the source in optical and near-IR bands. We will keep monitoring the source with TJO and will update the R-band magnitudes to our webpages: https://users.utu.fi/kani/1m/PG_1553+113.html
