SLX 1746-311 was reported to be in outburst by MAXI (ATEL #15937) and confirmed by NICER (ATEL #15941). We performed a Target of Opportunity observation with Swift on March 13, 2023 beginning at 15:40UT with a 335s exposure in Photon Counting mode. We find a very bright, piled-up point source at the following UVOT-corrected localization: RA/Dec(J2000) = 267.45350, -33.20418, which is equivalent to:
RA(J2000) =17h 49m 48.84s,
Dec(J2000) = 33d 12m 15.0s,
with an estimated error radius of 2.6 arc-seconds (90% confidence). This position lies 3.7 arc-seconds from the reported IR counterpart reported in ATEL #1633, and 2 arc-seconds from the previous XRT position reported during the 2007 outburst (ATEL #1237). We therefore believe that this position is consistent with the source being a recurrence of outburst in SLX 1746-311.
