We obtained r- and z-band images of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar MAXI J1816-195 (ATel #15418, #15421, #15425) on 2022 June 9 00:28 and 04:19 (UT), respectively with the 2m Liverpool Telescope on the Canary Island of La Palma, Spain. At the X-ray position localised with Swift/XRT (ATel #15421), we do not find an optical counterpart brighter than r~21.1 (300s exposure) and z~19.7 (180s exposure) by comparing with the SkyMapper Survey.
Further optical/infrared observations are encouraged while this source is still in outburst.
