Following the new MAXI localisation (ATel #15467) and VLA observation (ATel #15481) of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar transient MAXI J1816-195, we reanalysed the z-band images of the field obtained with the 2m Liverpool Telescope on the Canary Island of La Palma, Spain (ATel #15427,#15468). We also obtained new data on July 4, 2022 when the source has returned to the quiescent level based on the MAXI light curve. The near-IR source centered at the VLA position (ATel #15481), also known as Source 4 in the images taken with the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (ATel #15479), is clearly a variable. On July 4, the source is below the detection limit with z < 22.7.
Below is our z-band observation log between June 9 and July 4.
59739.180141 19.96+/-0.28
59741.098991 20.69+/-0.11
59748.122788 21.20+/-0.15
59749.015329 20.82+/-0.11
59752.090651 20.95+/-0.12
59764.975920 < 22.7
In general, the variation of the near-IR counterpart of MAXI J1816-195 is consistent with the X-ray light curve.
