Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M31

We report the discovery of an apparent nova in M31 on a co-added 1890-s R-band CCD frame taken on 2021 Jul. 4.033 UT with the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov.
The object designated PNV J00424717+4118173 is located at R.A. = 0h42m47s.17, Decl. = +41o18'17".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 32.1" east and 128.8" north of the center of M31 (see link to discovery image below).
The following R-band magnitudes were obtained using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov:
2021 Jun. 28.914 UT, [19.2; Jul. 4.033, 17.6 ± 0.1; 4.053, 17.7 ± 0.15.
