We report on the spectroscopic classification of ASASSN-19jy (AT2019dke, ATEL#12657) located in ESO 507-G 042 and discovered by the All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN; Shappee et al. 2014). Observations were obtained by G. Nowack, on the behalf of the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) Unbiased Transient Survey 2 (NUTS2) collaboration, on April 14.03 UT with the NOT equipped with ALFOSC (range 350-950 nm; resolution 1.6 nm FWHM). The spectrum is blue and relatively featureless, with bumps at the expected location of hydrogen Balmer emission lines. The spectrum is consistent with that of a young type-II supernova. Comparison of the spectrum to a library of SN spectra using SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) indicates a resemblance to the type-IIP SN 1999gj around a week before peak brightness. This is also consistent with the ASAS-SN g-band light curve.

We note NUTS2 is the second installment of NUTS (ATel #8992), and is now operating a transient followup program on the NOT over the next few semesters under program P59-506 (PIs: Kankare, Stritzinger, Lundqvist) and P59-007 (PI: Pastorello).
