We report the optical spectroscopic observation of the supernova candidate ASASSN-18vo/2018gkj (ATel #12063) using SALT/RSS (350.0-920.0 nm) on UT 2018-10-20.76. The target was discovered by All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN, Shappee et al. 2014). We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type, phase, and redshift of the SN spectra.
The spectrum matches with SNe Ia about a month after the peak and is consistent with the host redshift of 0.0416 (NED)
