We report the classification of PS17chm, discovered by the by the Pan-STARRS Survey for Transients (see Chambers et al. 2016, arXiv:1612.05560, and http://pswww.ifa.hawaii.edu ).
The observations were performed on UT 2017-04-19 with the Double Spectrograph (DBSP; range 350-1000nm, spectral resolution R~4000) on Palomar 200-inch (P200) telescope.
Classifications were performed using SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007) and Superfit (Howell et al. 2005). The classification spectra
can be obtained from the IAU Transient Name Server. The redshift of the host was obtained from NED.
Name | IAU Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | redshift | Type | Notes
PS17chm | AT2017dau | 14:14:17.08 | +35:25:43.47 | 0.01062 | LBV | (1)
(1) The spectrum shows a black body continuum of 5500 K and strong H alpha and H beta narrow emission lines with P-Cygni profile. We measure an expansion velocity of 1200 km/s and a FWHM of 1070 km/s.
