We obtained a spectrum of the Gaia Science Alerts transient Gaia16awt (http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts) on 2016 July 29.93 UT at the 1.5m G.D. Cassini Telescope (Loiano) with BFOSC. The spectrum, obtained with gr4 and a 2.5" slit, cover the ~3700-8000 A range with a resolution of ~16 A. The best match obtained with the GEneric cLAssification TOol (GELATO, Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383; available at URL https://gelato.tng.iac.es/login.cgi), assuming z=0.03, is with the type IIp SN 1995ad 24 days from explosion.
