The Nearby Supernova Factory reports the discovery of a probable supernova SNF20061019-003 (coordinates RA 00:35:27.81 DEC +02:55:50.7 J2000.0) in UGC 348 (z = 0.014, Schneider et al. 1992 ApJS, 81, 5 via NED) in images obtained October 19.3 UT at an approximate magnitude of 16.0 (calibrated to R) using the QUEST II camera on the Palomar Oschin 48-inch telescope as a part of the JPL Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking component of the Palomar-QUEST Consortium. An image from September 20 shows no object at this position to an approximate limiting magnitude of 20.0 (calibrated to R).
