The Nearby Supernova Factory reports that a spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of supernova 2006E (IAUC # 8658 ) in NGC 5338, obtained January 14.6 UT with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope reveals that it is a Type Ia supernova a few weeks past maximum light.
