We obtained a spectrum of the transient AT 2020lye with the SPRAT spectrograph (resolution R ~ 350; Piascik et al. 2014) on the 2-m Liverpool Telescope (LT; Steele et al. 2004) on 2020 Jun 9.18 UT.
The spectrum shows Balmer emission lines (Hα, Hβ, Hγ), along with Fe II (42 multiplet), Na I (D) and Si II (6347/6371Å). The S/N is relatively poor, but the Na I D and Si II lines show clear P-Cygni profiles. We measure the FWHM of the Hα line to be ~2100 km/s. This spectrum confirms that AT 2020lye is a nova in M31 and a member of the Fe II spectroscopic class.
