The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic observation of SN 2020kyg.

The target was supplied by the ATLAS survey (Tonry et al. (2011, PASP, 123, 58).

The observation was performed with the Asiago 1.82m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm).

Survey name | IAU name | Host galaxy | Disc. Date (UT) | Obs. Date (UT) | redshift | type | phase | notes
ATLAS20nuc | SN 2020kyg | NGC 5012 | 2020-05-24 09:15:50.4 | 2020-05-24 22:48:13.6| 0.008736 | Iax | pre-max | 1

(1) The low S/N spectrum is consistent with that of SNIax few days before maximum. The redshift of the host galaxy is from Giovanardi & Salpeter 1985, ApJS, 58, 623, via NED.

The classification was performed using the GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383)
and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tools.
