The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic observation of SN2017mf. The observation was performed with the Asiago 1.22-m Galileo Telescope (+ Boller & Chivens spectrograph).

Survey name | IAU name | Host galaxy | Disc. Date (UT) | Obs. Date (UT) | redshift | type | phase | notes
 SN2017mf | SN2017mf | NGC 5541 | 2017-01-22.95 | 2017-01-23.04 | 0.0257 | Ia | before max | 1

(1) Spectrum consistent with those of normal type Ia supernovae few days before maximum light, in agreement with the classification reported by Zhang et al (Atel #9986); we confirm the expansion velocity deduced from the absorption minimum of Si II 635.5 nm (about 10400 km/s)

The classification was performed using the GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383)
and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tools.

The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
