We obtained an optical spectrum (range 370-880 nm) of SN 2016jfu,discovered by Masaki Tsuboi, on UT Dec.31.9 2016 with the 2.16 m telescope at Xinglong Observatory of NAOC. The spectrum is consistent with that of a type IIP supernova at a few days after explosion. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the spectral comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al.,2008, A&A,488, 383) shows that the spectrum matches with SN 1999gi at t= +4 days after explosion. After correcting for a redshift of 0.008 for its host galaxy NGC 4793, an expansion velocity of about 10000 km/s can be derived from the absorption minimum of Ha line.
