The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic classification of SN 2016hrv in UGC 4461.
The target was dscovered by F. Ciabattari, E. Mazzoni, M. Rossi and M. Caimmi (Italian Supernova Search Project, ISSP: http://italiansupernovae.org ).
The observations were performed with the Asiago 1.82 m Copernico Telescope equipped with AFOSC (range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm).
IAU Name | Host galaxy | Redshift | Discovery (UT) | Discovery mag | Classification spectrum (UT) | Type | Phase | Notes
SN 2016hrv | UGC 4461 | 0.016655 | 2016-10-31.15 | 17.4 | 2016-11-30.13 | II | 1 month | (1)
(1) The AFOSC spectrum is relatively red, and is dominated by P-Cygni lines of H, Na I, Fe II, Sc II and Ca II H&K. It
is similar to that of Type II supernovae about 30-40 days after the explosion. The expansion velocity deduced from the minimum of the
Halpha absorption is about 7700 km/s. The redshift of the host galaxy is from Bottinelli et al. 1993, A&AS, 102, 57.
The classifications were performed using the GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tools.
The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
