We report the discovery of DLT16am/AT 2016ija. The object was discovered on 2016 11 21.19 UT at R~20.1 mag (absolute magnitude ~-11.1 mag assuming a distance modulus of 31.22 mag and a Galactic foreground extinction of 0.03 mag), during the ongoing D<40 Mpc (DLT40) one day cadence supernova search, using data from the PROMPT 5 0.41m telescope located at CTIO. The transient is located at Ra: 04:12:07.62 DEC: -32:51:11.1 in the nearby host NGC 1532. We do not detect the transient (R>20.7 mag) on 2016 11 19.19 UT or in prior imaging of the field. We detected the transient also on 2016 11 22.04 at R~18.57 mag and 2016 11 23.17 at 18.27 mag. All images were taken in a 'Clear' filter which was calibrated to an approximate R-band magnitude using the USNO-B1 catalog. Further observations are encouraged.
