We obtained a spectrum of classical nova M31N 2016-11a (PNV J00424181+4113433; CBAT TOCP, ATel #9716, #9744) with the SPRAT spectrograph (Piascik et al. 2014) on the 2-m Liverpool Telescope (LT; Steele et al. 2004) on 2016 November 10.92 UT. The nova was spectroscopically confirmed in ATel #9744 using the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT).

The LT spectrum shows strong and broad Balmer emission, with the FWHM of Hα measured at ~3000 km/s. This is consistent with the NOT spectrum reported in ATel #9744, which was taken approximately one day earlier than our observations. Our LT spectrum shows a number of broad Fe II emission lines, including the 42, 48 and 49 multiplets. The FWHM of the Fe II 5018 Å line is measured at ~2700 km/s. Emission from Na I (D) and O I (7774 Å) is also detected. From this spectrum we classify M31N 2016-11a as a member of the broad-lined Fe II spectroscopic type (Fe IIb) of novae.
