AGILE is detecting an increased gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV from a source with galactic coordinates (l,b)= (206.5 deg, 39.8 deg) +/- 1.2 deg (stat 99% c.l.) +/- 0.1 deg (syst), marginally consistent with the flat spectrum radio quasar TXS 0907+230 (also known as 5BZQ J0910+2248) and associated to the gamma-ray Fermi source 3FGL J0910.9+2248.

Integrating from 2016-10-12 06:00 UT to 2016-10-14 06:00 UT, a preliminary maximum likelihood analysis yields a detection with a significance of 5.8 sigma, and a flux F(E>100 MeV)=(3.0 +/- 0.8) x 10^-6 ph cm^-2 s^-1. This corresponds to an increase by a factor of about 20 in the gamma-ray flux above 100 MeV with respect to the maximum 3FGL J0910.9+2248 monthly average.

This measurement was obtained with AGILE observing a large portion of the sky in spinning mode.

Multifrequency observations of the TXS 0907+230 region are strongly encouraged.
