The NOT Unbiased Transient Survey (NUTS; ATel #8992) collaboration reports the spectroscopic
classifications of ASASSN-16hy in UGC 09857.
The candidate was discovered by All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN, ATel#9305).
The observations were performed with the 2.56 m Nordic Optical Telescope
equipped with ALFOSC (range 320-960 nm; resolution 1.62 nm) on 2016-08-04 UT.
Name | IAU Name | Host galaxy | Redshift | Discovery (UT) | Discovery mag | Type | Phase | Notes
ASASSN-16hy | SN 2016enk | UGC 09857 | 0.0078 | 2016-08-03.21 | 16.5 | II | Soon after explosion | (1)
(1) A good match is obtained with Type IIP SN 2004et a few days after the explosion. The redshift
of host galaxy is obtained from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 5 as obtained Jun. 28,
2006 from http://www.sdss.org/dr5/products/catalogs/index.html
Classification was performed using the SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tool.
